BURLINGTON, Vt. – The UVM men's soccer team earned its 10th consecutive trip to the conference tournament with a 2-1 comeback win over UMass Lowell on Saturday afternoon at Virtue Field. The Catamounts stand at 9-5 overall and 4-1 in the league standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The River Hawks jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the fourth minute. Renato Kauzlaric intercepted a clear attempt in the attacking midfield, then sent a low feed into the box. Stanley Alves sprinted up the seam, gathered the pass, and buried the early score under a diving Aron Runarsson from 10 yards out.
• UVM found the equalizer at the midway point of the opening frame. Jon Arnar Barðdal fought off a defender just past midfield and chipped a ball over the UML defense for Rasmus Tobinski. The Kiel, Germany native marched ahead for a short breakaway and buried a line drive into the top right corner of the net.
• The Green and Gold tacked on another goal in the 38th minute. Standing near the UML bench, Frosti Brynjólfsson lofted a free kick towards the far post where Garrett Lillie headed a ball from the goal line back into the center of the box. Ívar Örn Árnason capped off the scoring chance with a low shot into the right side of the net for the eventual game-winning goal.

GAME NOTES

• Brynjólfsson has recorded at least one point in four out of his last five games.
• Runarsson finished the contest with two saves and picked up his 27th career victory, moving him into a third-place tie on UVM's career wins list.
• The Cats evened the all-time series with the River Hawks 2-2-3.
• The match was Military Appreciation Day presented by Milton Cat.
• With the victory, the Cats Win, Community Wins campaign and Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to Make-A-Wish Vermont; bringing this year's total to 82 wins and $8,200.
