COACH'S QUOTE
"I was impressed with our intensity tonight; we played far, far harder and competed far better, unfortunately I thought the three goals we gave up we not great goals, and we left Stef out to dry," head coach Kevin Sneddon said. "But that was the best compete level we've had in this stretch and we have to try to hold [the players] to that level when we play."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Vermont's best chances of the game came at the midpoint of the opening frame. A flurry of activity in the slot led to multiple Catamount chances, but Boston College goalie Spencer Knight (34 saves) stood tall, making three key saves with BC defensemen blocking another pair of shots.
  • Stefanos Lekkas (23 saves) made a highlight reel save on a BC power play early in the second period, sliding to his left to stop a one-timer from BC's Julius Mattila.
  • Boston College broke open the scoring with two goals in a span of 1:28 late in the second period. Aapeli Räsänen scored on the power play at 15:41 of the middle frame and Patrick Giles added a shorthanded goal at 17:09 of the frame on a 2-on-0 rush.
  • Junior Logan Hutsko extended the Eagle lead at 3:55 of the third period, sliding the puck under Lekkas on a semi-breakaway. David Cotton sprung Hutsko with a pass through the neutral zone.
  • The remaining 14:05 of the third period remained scoreless with chances on both sides. Vermont was unable to find a goal during a two-minute 4-on-4 stretch and during a five-minute power play late in the period,
GAME NOTES
  • Vermont finished the game with a 34-26 advantage in shots and a 31-26 advantage in faceoffs won.
  • The Eagles went 1-for-3 on the power play on Saturday compared to a 0-for-2 night for the Catamounts.
