COACH'S QUOTE
"We showed fight but in order to win on the road we must play four complete quarters," said head coach Alisa Kresge. "We can't find ourselves down double figures after the first quarter against a good Rhode Island team and expect to win. Our rebounding effort individually and collectively must improve if we want to win close games."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Dale led the Rams early scoring what would've been a season-high 12 points just in the first quarter. URI used a 12-0 run to establish a 21-9 edge after the opening frame.
  • Delaney Richason led the UVM push in the second quarter hitting two back-to-back three-pointers for the Catamounts. In the first half she had a team-high nine points on a perfect three-for-three shooting from downtown. Hanna Crymble had five points in the quarter as UVM outscored the Rams by three. URI took a 34-25 lead into the half.
  • In the third quarter Crymble and Rose Caverly led the Catamounts with seven points apiece. Josie Larkins hit her second three-pointer of the night and added a free throw moments later to cut the Rams lead to four with 2:21 left in the quarter. The teams traded baskets and URI took a 55-50 lead into the fourth.
  • Crymble had nine points early in the fourth quarter as UVM continued its comeback. Emma Utterback hit a jumper with 3:00 left to give the Catamounts an 65-64 edge. URI's Nicole Jorgensen scored four points in the waning moments to give URI a 69-67 edge.
  • With 2.9 seconds remaining in regulation Crymble was fouled fighting for an offensive rebound. She calmly hit both free throws tying the game at 69. URI's Marta Vargas missed a shot at the end of regulation and the teams were headed to overtime.
  • Jorgensen and Crymble each had the five points for their teams in the extra session leaving the game tied at 74 with 21 seconds left. URI called timeout to advance the ball and setup their game-winning attempt. The Catamounts played tremendous defense for 19 seconds before Dale hit a desperation three-pointer to give URI a three-point lead with two seconds left.
  • Vermont advanced the ball with their final timeout and Larkins had a game-tying three-pointer rim out as URI secured its third win of the young season.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Neither team went to the foul line in the first half. Josie Larkins hit the first two free throws of the game with 6:05 left in the third quarter.
  • Monday night was Vermont's first overtime game of the season and its first since defeating Binghamton 58-57 on the road on January 19, 2019. All-time UVM is now 17-21 in games requiring extra time.
  • Hanna Crymble recorded her third straight double-double with 30 points and 10 rebounds. Last season against the Rams she also had 30 points. It is the first time in Crymble's career she has had consecutive double-doubles.
  • Rose Caverly scored a career-high 17 points, she also tied her career-high with eight assists.
