BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Catamounts used a 9-2 fourth quarter run over 99 seconds to push past LIU 73-62 Saturday afternoon from the Steinberg Wellness Center in a non-conference matchup. With the win UVM improved to 6-6 this season while the Sharks fell to 1-9.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Once again Vermont came out firing, taking an 9-2 lead early aided by five points from Delaney Richason. The Sharks battled back with a 7-0 run of their own. Emma Utterback hit a floater at the buzzer to give UVM a 19-17 edge after the first frame.
- In the second quarter LIU hit back-to-back three-pointers on an 8-0 run that established a 25-22 edge for the Sharks. Josie Larkins had five points down the stretch to help UVM regain the lead. Richason hit a jumper in the final minute to give the Catamounts a two-point halftime.
- Early in the second quarter the Sharks went on another 7-0 run keyed by a Brandon Thomas three-point play to give LIU a 38-35 edge. UVM responded with a 9-0 run led by Utterback with five points and Richason with two finishes in the post. UVM took a four-point edge into the fourth quarter.
- Vermont went on a 9-2 run early in the fourth quarter behind five more points from Richason to seize control of the game. The Sharks were able to cut the UVM edge to six but the Catamounts were 6-8 from the free throw line to close out their first road win of the season.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Catamounts current four-game win streak is the longest under Head Coach Alisa Kresge. The last time the Catamounts won four straight games was the start of the 2011-12 campaign. UVM has also won six non-conference games for the first time since 2011-12.
- Emma Utterback (21 points) and Delaney Richason (18 points) set new career-highs in the Catamount win.
- In the last four games Vermont has outscored its opponents 83-42 in the first quarter.
- With the victory, the Cats Win, Community Wins campaign and Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to Make-A-Wish Vermont, bringing this year's total to 109 wins and $10,900. Vermont continues its four-game road trip after the holidays as they travel to face Merrimack in their final non-conference tilt of the regular season.
