COACH'S QUOTE
"What a great effort by our entire team tonight," head coach
Jim Plumer said. "We played with a lot of energy and our defense was key in limiting Maine to 12 shots. Credit to our special teams as well. We were perfect on the penalty kill and gained significant momentum by scoring two of our goals just after the power play expired. I'm excited see us play that way again tomorrow."Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Black Bears grabbed the lead 1:52 into the game on Tereza Vanišová's 10th goal of the season. The senior received a pass from Brittany Colton in the neutral zone and slipped the puck past Natalie Ferenc (10 saves) on a partial breakaway.
- Vermont nearly got the equalizer on a pair of power plays late in the first period, but Kristina Shanahan tied the game at even strength with 2:07 left in the frame. Lily Humphrey fired a shot from the high slot, which was deflected by Shanahan. Sara Levesque was credited with the secondary assist.
- Ali O'Leary put the Catamounts up 2-1 with 11:16 left in the second period on her third tally of the season. The captain's slap shot whistled by the glove of Carly Jackson (22 saves). Ève-Audrey Picard had the primary assist and Levesque registered her second assist of the game.
- Maine quickly answered when Ida Kuoppala buried a wraparound goal 59 seconds later. Vendula Pribylova earned the lone assist on the tying marker.
- McCool netted the game-winning goal with 9:01 left in regulation. The puck was loose in the crease before the sophomore forward jammed it into the back of the net. Theresa Schafzahl and Val Caldwell assisted on the deciding goal.
- Ferenc made some huge saves down the stretch to preserve the UVM lead. With 6:20 left in the game, Kuoppala tested the rookie goaltender from point-blank, but Ferenc denied the Black Bears' goal scorer.Â
