CRYMBLE LEADING THE WAY
Junior forward
Hanna Crymble leads the Catamounts in scoring with 14.6 PPG. She is third in America East in scoring. She has been Vermont's leading scorer in 15 of the Catamounts 23 games. She is shooting 49.6% from the field this season which is the second-best mark in America East. She is also shooting 88.0% from the free throw line, which is the best mark in the league.
WRIGHT BLOCK PARTY
Candice Wright is Vermont's all-time block leader with 208 career blocks. She has 67 blocks this season which is third most in the NCAA. She is averaging 2.9 blocks per game, twice this season she has had eight blocks in a single game. By herself this season Candice has more blocks than four America East teams. With 208 career blocks Wright is fifth all-time in America East history. She needs 10 more blocks to tie Binghamton's Laura Franceski (2005-09) in fourth place. As a team, the Catamounts are 13th in the NCAA with 125 blocks.
HOT SHOOTING AGAINST THE WILDCATS
In the Catamounts 69-60 win over UNH in January the Catamounts shot a season-high 50% from the field. Vermont's 38 points in the opening 20 minutes were the most scored by the Catamounts in a first half this season against a Division I opponent. UVM's bench outscored UNH 21-5 in the game.
FIGHTING FOR HOME COURT IN THE QUARTERFINALS
The Catamounts enter Saturday's game in fifth place in America East at 5-6 two games behind Stony Brook for home court advantage. Binghamton is a game behind the Catamounts at 4-7. The top-four teams at the end of the regular season will host the America East Quarterfinals on Wednesday, March 6.
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE
The Wildcats enter Wednesday's matchup having won two games in a row for the second time this season. Last week they defeated UMass Lowell 54-46 and won at Binghamton 54-53.
The Wildcats Kari Brekke was named America East Rookie of the Week for the third time this season after averaging 15.6 points per game in UNH's 2-0 week. Brekke had nine points in the fourth quarter against UMass Lowell to secure the Wildcats, at the time, second league win of the season. Brekke had a game-high 17 points against the Catamounts in their first meeting January 16. She leads all freshmen in scoring in America East with 10.4 points per game.
The Wildcats leading scorer, Ashley Storey (17.1 PPG) has not played since January 5. In the Wildcats last two wins they have started three true freshmen – Kari Brekke, Kali Grimm, and Ivy Gogolin.
SERIES HISTORY
Vermont leads the all-time series 43-39 against the Wildcats With 82 matchups this is Vermont's second most common opponent behind Maine. Last season the two teams split their games against one another, with each team winning on the road. Earlier this season Vermont defeated the Wildcats 69-60 at Patrick Gym.
SATURDAY IS MILITARY APPRECIATION AND SPREAD RESPECT GAME
Vermont returns home to face Hartford on Saturday Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. Saturday is Military Appreciation Presented by Milton CAT, FREE tickets are available for all military personnel and their families (purchase at the ticket office with military ID).
Saturday is also Vermont's Spread Respect game. America East and UVM urges you to spread respect by insuring equality and safety for all coaches, student, and fans without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity. The team will be wearing special Spread Respect Shooting shirts, and there will be a table in the lobby for more information and to hear from our student-athletes on how they Spread Respect.
