HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior Lincoln Griffin scored on Northeastern's first shot of the game 56 seconds after the first puck drop. Griffin and Liam Pecararo entered the UVM zone on a 2-on-1 and made a pair of passes before Griffin beat UVM goalie Stefanos Lekkas (24 saves).
- After no penalties in the opening period, Vermont was penalized twice in the opening minute of the second. Northeastern's Matt Filipe scored at 2:52 of the period as the second Catamount penalty expired.
- Joey Cipollone cut into the Husky lead 42 seconds into the third period in the waning seconds of UVM's first power play chance. The freshman banged home a rebound after Primeau stopped Derek Lodermeier's initial shot. Christian Evers picked up the secondary assist on the goal.
- Primeau robbed Liam Coughlin of the game-tying-goal with 2:40 to play in the third period on a Catamount power play. A final push from the Cats came up empty as Northeastern picked up the 2-1 win.
GAME NOTES
- Lekkas finished the night with 24 saves to move into eighth in program history for total saves in a single season (913). He also passed Tom Draper '87 to move into fourth in UVM history for career saves (2,813).
- Junior captain Derek Lodermeier became the second Catamount this season and 159th in program history to play in 100 or more career games. Just over half of all UVM players have reached the milestone.
