HARTFORD, Conn. – Stefanos Lekkas recorded his 1,000th save of the 2018-19 season and cracked the UVM's top-3 in career saves in Friday's setback at UConn.

UConn took a 5-1 win over Vermont at XL Center in Hartford and improves to 11-20-2 overall (6-15-2 HEA) while Vermont drops to 12-19-2 overall (5-16-2 HEA).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UConn captain Miles Gendron put the Huskies up early after wiring a shot from the slot past Lekkas (32 saves) at 3:51 of the first period.
- Freshman Jonny Evans doubled the Husky lead at 6:33 of the first period with a quick give-and-go with Jachym Kondelik.
- Kale Howarth made it 3-0 UConn at 11:43 of the second period. Howarth picked up a rebound behind the Catamount net and quickly brought a wraparound chance to the front of the net and scored. Alexander Payusov pushed the lead to 4-0 just over three minutes later on the power play with assists from Gendron and Wyatt Newpower.
- Andrew Petrillo scored his first career goal at 18:38 of the second period to make it 4-1 Huskies. The freshman received a pass from Derek Lodermeier and rifled a shot from the point past Tomas Vomacka (33 saves). Max Kaufman picked up the secondary assist on the goal.
- Evans netted his second goal of the night at 15:41 of the final period, deflected a blue line shot from Ruslan Iskhakov past a sliding Lekkas.
GAME NOTES
- Lekkas posted his second and the fifth 1,000 save season in Catamount history at 11:25 of the second period with a blocker save on a shot from Adam Karashik.
- Lekkas passed UVM Hall-of-Famer Joe Fallon '08 for third in program history in career saves. The junior now has the third-most saves in program history with 2,912 stops, behind Rob Madore '12 (3,352) and Tim Thomas '97 (3,950).
- Petrillo became the seventh Catamount this season to record his first career goal.
