BURLINGTON, Vt. – The UVM women's lacrosse team used hat tricks from three different players en route to a 16-4 win over Sacred Heart on Saturday afternoon at Virtue Field. The Catamounts move to 3-1 on the year while the Pioneers remain winless at 0-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jenna Janes only needed the opening five minutes to record a hat trick as the Catamounts fired off six unanswered goals to begin the contest.
- The Pioneers broke the shutout at the 16:16 mark as the two non-conference foes traded goals over the next 10 minutes.
- With 22 second left in the first half, Elise Koehl notched her second goal of the afternoon and padded UVM's lead to 9-3 by halftime.
- Vermont carried its momentum into the second half and rattled off four straight goals in the opening six minutes.
- Sacred Heart's Lydia Werlau stopped the run with 22:47 left to play with the Pioneers' final score of the afternoon.
- The Cats added three more goals in the last five minutes, including two from Maris Large, for the final margin of victory.
GAME NOTES
- Alex Vignona racked up a game-high six points with one goal and a career-high five assists. Vignona finished one assist shy of matching the program's single-game assists record. She also caused a turnover and won a draw control.
- Jenna Janes followed with five points on four goals and one assists.
- Koehl and Large each recorded a hat trick, including the first of her collegiate career for Large.
- In net, Maddy Kuras stopped five of the nine shots on goal sent her way.
- The Green and Gold are off to a 3-1 start for the first time since 2014.
- UVM grabs the upper hand in the all-time series with a 4-3 edge.
- With the victory, the Cats Win, Community Wins campaign and Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to Make-A-Wish Vermont; bringing this year's total to 37 wins and $3,700.
