COACH'S QUOTE
"A great team victory and I'm proud of our girls and how we finished the game," head coach Sarah Dalton said. "A big emphasis this week was transition and taking care of the ball - going 22-for-23 on clears was a huge turnaround from our last outing. Winning the draw control and ground ball stats was a first for this team. I am looking forward to building on our success."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Jenna Janes only needed the opening five minutes to record a hat trick as the Catamounts fired off six unanswered goals to begin the contest.
  • The Pioneers broke the shutout at the 16:16 mark as the two non-conference foes traded goals over the next 10 minutes.
  • With 22 second left in the first half, Elise Koehl notched her second goal of the afternoon and padded UVM's lead to 9-3 by halftime.
  • Vermont carried its momentum into the second half and rattled off four straight goals in the opening six minutes.
  • Sacred Heart's Lydia Werlau stopped the run with 22:47 left to play with the Pioneers' final score of the afternoon.
  • The Cats added three more goals in the last five minutes, including two from Maris Large, for the final margin of victory.
GAME NOTES
  • Alex Vignona racked up a game-high six points with one goal and a career-high five assists. Vignona finished one assist shy of matching the program's single-game assists record. She also caused a turnover and won a draw control.
  • Jenna Janes followed with five points on four goals and one assists.
  • Koehl and Large each recorded a hat trick, including the first of her collegiate career for Large.
  • In net, Maddy Kuras stopped five of the nine shots on goal sent her way.
  • The Green and Gold are off to a 3-1 start for the first time since 2014.
  • UVM grabs the upper hand in the all-time series with a 4-3 edge.
  • With the victory, the Cats Win, Community Wins campaign and Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to Make-A-Wish Vermont; bringing this year's total to 37 wins and $3,700.
