BURLINGTON, Vt. – The University of Vermont women's hockey program announced the incoming class set to join the Catamounts for the 2019-20 season.
The signees are
Hailey Burns (Kirkland, Qué.),
Natalie Ferenc (Orchard Lake, Mich.),
Sara Levesque (Chicoutimi, Qué.),
Cam Morrissey (Troy, Mich.),
Lily Humphrey (Huntington Beach, Calif.),
Emma Katzman (Wilmette, Ill.), and
Tynka Pátková (Mezibori, Czech Republic).
"We are so excited to welcome this group to our program," said head coach
Jim Plumer. "They encompass everything we value in our players – talent, character, and great academics. We are looking forward to seeing them in Catamount green this season."

Hailey Burns | F | Kirkland, Qué. | John Abbott College
Burns has spent the last three seasons at John Abbott College, where she played center with fellow commit
Sara Levesque. She scored 24 points (13 goals, 11 assists) in 24 games this past season to lead her team. Her grandfather, Robin Burns played parts of six seasons in the NHL, finishing out his career with the Kansas City Scouts in 1976. Burns chose UVM because of the school's reputation athletically and academically as well as the proximity to her hometown.
Natalie Ferenc | G | Orchard Lake, Mich. | Little Caesar's
Ferenc is the lone goaltender in the Class of 2023. A native of Orchard Lake, Michigan, Ferenc has spent two seasons with the Little Caesar's AAA Hockey Club. She also earned a silver medal with the United States at the 2019 U18 World Championships in Japan. In high school, she was a midfielder on the lacrosse field and earned All-State honors in 2018. Ferenc chose UVM because of the great medical programs and her affection for the area.
Sara Levesque | D | Chicoutimi, Qué. | John Abbott College
Levesque moves south to Vermont from Chicoutimi, Québec after three seasons with John Abbott College. The defender tallied 11 points (2 goals, 9 assists) in 24 games on the back end this past season for the Islanders. She chose UVM because of the campus and Burlington's similarities to her hometown.
Cam Morrissey | D | Troy, Mich. | Selects Hockey Academy
Morrissey has spent the last two seasons as a member of the Selects Hockey Academy. The left-handed shooter hails from Troy, Michigan but was born in San Jose, California. She chose UVM because of the academics, athletics, and how quickly the campus felt like home.
Lily Humphrey | F | Huntington Beach, Calif. | New Hampton School
Humphrey has played the last two seasons for the New Hampton School in New Hampshire. The Huntington Beach, California native is a left-shooting forward who plans to pursue a degree in business administration at UVM. She chose Vermont for the academics, athletics, and atmosphere at the University.
Emma Katzman | D | Wilmette, Ill. | Chicago Young Americans
Katzman also joins the Catamounts' Class of 2023. The Wilmette, Illinois native has played the last three seasons with the Chicago Young Americans. In the 2017-18 season, she tallied 12 points (2 goals, 10 assists) in 27 games for the Young American's U19 team. Katzman chose Vermont because of the opportunity to grow as well as the program's competitive standard.
Tynka Pátkova | F | Mezibori, Czech Republic | The Gunnery
Pátkova is the final recruit to join Vermont for the upcoming season. The European forward has spent the last two seasons in New England at The Gunnery. She has represented the Czech Republic in three IIHF World U18 Championships, earning bronze with former captain
Sammy Kolowrat '19 in 2014 and skating with current UVM goaltender
Blanka Škodová the following year.
Vermont hosts UOttawa to open the 2019-20 campaign on Saturday (Sept. 28) at Gutterson Fieldhouse. Puck drop is slated for 4 p.m.
