COACH'S QUOTE
"Good overall team performance to win on the road in the second game of three days," head coach
Rob Dow said. "A lot of credit goes to the guys we had coming off the bench who gave us a lift in both halves. We learned a lot about ourselves this weekend and we're looking forward to playing in front of our home crowd at Virtue Field next Friday."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Aron Runarsson made three saves in a two-minute span in the opening frame to keep the game scoreless. DePaul's Max De Bruijne had two quality chances with hard low shots that Runarsson pushed aside.
- In the 39th minute Alex Nagy helped create Vermont's best chance of the half. Off a free-kick Nagy centered a feed that DePaul goaltender Drew Nuelle parried out of trouble right by the crossbar.
- Vermont scored the lone goal of the game in the 51st minute. Rasmus Tobinski put a shot on from distance and Nuelle pushed the shot out of play. The Catamounts quickly grabbed the ball and took a corner immediately. Evan Rouleau served a ball in and Tobinski headed it home for his first career collegiate goal.
NOTES
- Runarsson finished the game with five saves earning the ninth clean sheet of his career. With 21 career wins Runarsson is just four away from moving into a tie for fifth place all-time at Vermont.
- Tobinksi led the way for Vermont with three shots, including two on target this afternoon.
- Tobinski, Nagy, and Adrian Gahabka were named to the Chicago Classic All-Tournament Team.
