FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield Stags (2-1) scored two unanswered goals in the second half to take a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over the Vermont Catamounts (0-2) on a rainy Friday afternoon at University Field in Fairfield, Connecticut.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior goalie Sierra Espeland stopped both shots she faced in a scoreless opening quarter at University Field.
- Sophomore Clodagh Ferry found the back of the net with Vermont's first shot of the game with 5:30 left to play in the second quarter. Sydney Melfi carried the ball down the right side of the field before centering a pass in the circle to Ferry.
- Fairfield's Kelly Buckley tied the game halfway through the third quarter as she deflected a pass from Malen Iglesias past Espeland.
- Espeland made three outstanding saves on back-to-back Fairfield penalty corners midway through the fourth quarter to keep the score level at 1-1.
- The Stags found twine on their fourth penalty corner of the fourth quarter to break the 1-1 deadlock with 1:33 to play. Danielle Profita deflected a Luzi Persiehl shot over Espeland for the eventual game-winner.

- Espeland finished the game with eight saves.
- Melfi has points in three straight games dating back to the 2018 season. She has one goal and four points through two games in 2019.
