COACH'S QUOTE
"I thought our team battled hard and did a lot of great things," said head coach Kevin Sneddon. "I believe we deserved a better fate at the five-minute mark of a 2-1 game. Dartmouth played well, and we will continue to teach and improve daily."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Cats wasted no time finding the back of the net, taking a 1-0 lead off the stick of Christian Evers just 29 seconds into the game. Dallas Comeau found Evers streaking towards the far post for the backdoor goal.
  • Lekkas was stellar from the outset and recorded 14 first period saves, including eight while shorthanded to keep the Big Green off the board.
  • Evers scored his second goal of the game at 13:13 of the second period on a delayed Dartmouth penalty. With the extra attacker on the ice, Derek Lodermeier found Evers at the right dot for a one-time shot that beat Dartmouth goalie Adrian Clark (31 saves).
  • Dartmouth's Mark Gallant picked up a loose puck in the slot and scored as Lekkas lost his mask at 16:48 of the second. Called a goal on the ice, a video review confirmed the call. Tanner Palocsik and Quin Foreman assisted on the goal.
  • After a late penalty against Riley McCutcheon, Dartmouth's Jeff Losurdo tied the game at 15:14 of the frame with a shot that just beat a diving Lekkas.
  • The goalies told the story in overtime, with chances at both ends and no game-winner. Lekkas recorded five saves in the five-minute extra period while Clark added four stops to his total.
GAME NOTES
  • Lekkas finished the game with a season-high 46 saves. It marks the first 40-save game of the season for the senior and 12th of his career.
  • Lekkas' home scoreless streak ended at 172:53, spanning nearly nine full periods and dating back to mid-November.
  • Vermont's first goal at 29 seconds of the first period is the fastest Catamount goal since Tom Forgione '17 scored just 22 seconds into a 3-0 win against Michigan on October 28, 2016.
  • Evers' two goal game is the first multi-goal effort since Max Kaufman had two goals in Vermont's 3-2 win over Sacred Heart last season (Jan. 4, 2019). It marks the first multi-goal game by a defenseman since Matt O'Donnell scored two goals in a 4-4 tie against New Hampshire (Oct. 28, 2017).
