COACH'S QUOTE
"We can't have 22 turnovers and expect to win," said Head Coach
Alisa Kresge. "We have to find a way to fight through other teams runs and not panicking."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts started strong with some hot-shooting from downtown in the first quarter. Josie Larkins, Delaney Richason and Hanna Crymble connected from three as UVM built an early advantage. UVM closed the first quarter on a 7-0 run to take a 13-8 edge into the second frame.
- Larkins hit another deep triple with 5:31 remaining in the half to give UVM an 11-point advantage. The River Hawks responded with an 9-0 run with points from four different scorers to make it 23-21. Sarah Wells converted a layup in the final minute, making it seven points for her in the quarter, ending a 4:57 scoring drought for the Catamounts. In the dying seconds of the half Emma Utterback found Larkins open for another three-pointer, which she hit at the buzzer giving UVM a 28-21 lead at the break.
- In the third quarter the River Hawks showcased the mettle that has built their winning streak. UMass Lowell closed the frame on a 13-0 run including four points from Kharis Idom to take a 39-35 lead.
- Larkins hit her fourth triple of the afternoon early in the fourth quarter to pull the Catamounts back within one but the River Hawks were too much in the final frame. Idom and Juliena Sanchez hit back-to-back threes for UML and they never looked back.
