BLOCK PARTY
The Catamounts lead America East in blocks with 105. They are 28th in the NCAA in the category.
Hanna Crymble is the individual leader in America East with 46 blocks this season, which is tied for 28th in Division I. She is 12 blocks away from surpassing her total blocks from the last three years combined.
Â
MOVING ON UP
Hanna Crymble is seventh all-time in program history with 1,645 career points. She is just the 30th player in America East history to score 1,600 points. She needs 44 points to tie Morgan Hall '03 for sixth all-time. In seven career games against the Hawks Crymble is averaging 11.6 PPG.
Â
40-PERCENT AN INDICATOR FOR SUCCESS
When the Catamounts shoot 40% or better from the field they are 9-2 this season. Vermont also has a 5-2 record when shooting 40% or better from three-point range. Catamount starters
Hanna Crymble,
Delaney Richason and
Emma Utterback are all individually shooting above the 40% mark.
Â
VALUE THE BALL
The Catamounts are 27th in the NCAA averaging only 13 turnovers per game. The Catamounts are 9-5 this season when they have 13 or fewer turnovers.
Â
RICE'S MORGAN VALLEY BEHIND THE BENCH
Hartford Head Coach Morgan Valley is a Colchester, Vt. native. She was a two-time Burlington Free Press Miss Basketball winner while starring at Rice Memorial High School. She helped lead the Knights to two straight undefeated seasons and state championships.
Â
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
Hartford is still chasing its first win of the season. The Hawks have started America East Play 0-10. They are led by first year head coach Morgan Valley. She has spent more than 14 years coaching at the Division I level. Her staff also includes Hailee Barron, a Burlington native who was first team all-state with Rice Memorial High School in 2014.
Jada Lucas has been a bright spot for the Hawks, averaging 12.3 points-per-game. Jordan McLemore averages 3.1 assists-per-game which ranks 7th in the America East. Defensively, Lawrencia Moten is second to
Hanna Crymble in blocked shots with 30. Hartford as a unit holds the lowest marks in the conference for points-per-game and points allowed per game.
SERIES HISTORY
In their first meeting of the season, the Catamounts overcame an 11-point third quarter deficit for the second straight game to win 63-53.
Emma Utterback had a game-high 19 points in the road victory.
Saturday's game will be the 76th between UVM and Hartford. The last meeting broke an all-time series tie and UVM now holds a 38-37 edge in the series. Hartford had won three in a row dating back to a Vermont win in Burlington in 2018. The Catamounts enjoyed 20 consecutive wins in the series from 1990 to 2000.
CATHY INGLESE PATCHES
This season the Catamounts are wearing jersey patches to honor our former Head Coach Cathy Inglese. Inglese was the head coach at Vermont for seven seasons, from 1986 to 1993. She led UVM to unprecedented success with its first two conference titles, in 1992 and 1993, and its first two trips to the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship.
These patches will be worn at home and on the road this season to honor the memory of Coach Inglese who tragically passed away this summer.
