SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant outscored the Vermont men's lacrosse team 5-1 in the second quarter and held the Catamounts at bay the rest of way to earn a 15-12 victory on Saturday afternoon.
Bryant – which is receiving votes in both national polls this week – improves to 2-1 and the Cats drop to 0-1 on the young season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Vermont got off to a sizzling start in the first quarter thanks to two straight goals from JJ Levandowski and a third from Stone Jacobs.
- Bryant answered quickly with two of its own but veterans Liam Limoges and Thomas McConvey restored the three-goal lead. The Cats took a 5-4 lead into the second quarter.
- The second quarter was all Bryant as the Bulldogs outscored Vermont 5-1 in the frame. Bryant led 9-6 at the half.
- The two teams traded goals to start the second half and two straight McConvey goals pulled the Cats to within two at the 10:56 mark of the third.
- Late in the third Bryant stretched the lead to four on a Bennett Abladian goal.
- UVM got back to within two with five minutes to go in the fourth when Michael McCormack scored his second of the day but the Bulldogs answered on the ensuing possession to ice the game.

- McConvey finished this day with a career-high four goals and two assists. His six points match a career-high he set last season vs. Quinnipiac.
- Ryan Cornell made a career-high 13 saves in the losing effort.
- Middlebury transfer Michael McCormack scored the first two goals of his Catamount career while picking up a team-high six ground balls.
- First-year Jonas Hunter along with sophomores Brock Haley and Stone Jacobs joined McCormack in scoring their first Catamount goals.
- Bryant had 11 different goal scorers to register its 15 goals – a season-high.
WHO'S NEXT
Vermont returns to action on Wednesday, March 3 when UMass Lowell pays a visit to Virtue Field for a 4 p.m. faceoff. It will be the Cats first game at home since March of last year.
