DURHAM, N.H. – New Hampshire scored late in regulation and again in double overtime to hand Vermont a 2-1 decision on Sunday afternoon in conference action. The Catamounts slip to 0-2-0 while the Wildcats improve to 5-1-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the league standings. Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts got on the board in the 16th minute with Karen Wallace's first goal of the season. Frances O'Donnell played a cross to the into the center of the 18-yard box and Cricket Basa found herself one-one-one with UNH goalie Cat Sheppard. Basa fired a right-footed shot on target but Sheppard deflected the scoring threat, but Wallace was in perfect position to tap in the rebound.
- Angie Salvi came within inches of adding an insurance goal for UVM in the 55th minute. Off a free kick from 30 yards out, Salvi received the feed in the center of the box, turned to her right, and tried to thread the needle with a low shot but Sheppard made a diving kick-save.
- UNH nearly found the equalizer in the 63rd minute. The Green and Gold tried to clear the ball away from the edge of the 18-yard box, but the home team got a friendly deflection off Casey Peterson to a wide-open Francesca Picicci. UVM netminder Lydia Kessel was forced to come out of the net and pounced on the ball before Picicci could get a foot on it.
- The Wildcats tied the game at 1-1 in the 87th minute. Ella Dudley hooked a high cross into the center of the box and Anna Hewlett went top shelf with a header from 10 yards out.
- Near the midway point of double overtime, UNH's Emily Bini had her first shot attempt denied by a UVM defender in the center of the box, gathered her own rebound, and tried to end the game with a line drive towards the near post but Kessel knocked the ball away with a diving save. On the ensuing corner kick, UVM's back line cleared the ball away initially, then Keegan Mayer collected the loose ball and rifled the game-winning goal into the left side of the net from 15 yards away.
