BURLINGTON, Vt. – Boston University used a nine-goal second half to squeak past Vermont 12-10 on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action. The Catamounts slip to 1-1 while the Terriers improve to 1-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Catamounts jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after McKenzie Ballard capitalized on a woman-up opportunity and Dani Paterno added another score at the 26:23 mark. The Terriers countered with two unassisted goals in a two-minute stretch to knot everything up at 2-2.
• Ballard netted her second goal with 20 minutes to play in the period and Taylor Mullen doubled UVM's lead to 4-2 six minutes later with the assist coming from Maris Large.
• BU's Ava Barry cut the deficit to 4-3 with 10:29 left on the clock, but Vermont strung together four straight goals to close the half and went into the break with an 8-3 lead. The run was highlighted by a pair of goals from Paterno for the first-half hat trick.
• Mullen added her second goal of the contest early in the second half, but Boston University mounted a serious comeback. The Terriers scored nine unanswered goals in nearly 20 minutes to claim a 12-9 lead with seven minutes remaining in the game.
• Vasile tried to spark a comeback with a woman-up goal at the 1:21 mark for the final score.
