ALBANY, N.Y. – A pair of second-half goals led Vermont (4-0-1) to a 2-0 victory over UAlbany (2-5-1, 1-4-0 AE) on Friday afternoon. With the win, the Catamounts clinch a spot in the America East Championship.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Jonathan Bryant netted the clinching goal in the 47th minute for his first marker of the season. The Catamounts set up for a corner kick and
Alex Nagy's boot found Bryant whose header beat Carlos Tofern (6 saves) low left for the 1-0 lead.
• Vermont doubled its lead three minutes later on another corner kick.
Zach Barrett converted for the Catamounts on the cross from
Bjarni Adalsteinsson to beat Tofern.
• UAlbany had a chance to cut the deficit late in the second half off of a corner kick. Hafliöi Siguröarson directed a shot towards the Catamounts' goal, but the scoring chance was calmly swallowed up by
Nate Silveira (3 saves).
• The Great Danes had one final attempt on a free kick in the 87
th minute that bounced around in the box, but was ultimately cleared away by the Catamounts.

• The Cats get their first victory over the Great Danes since winning the America East Quarterfinal matchup in 2014.
• UVM outshot UAlbany 14-5, with an 8-3 shot-on-goal advantage. The Catamounts did not yield a shot on goal until the 55
th minute.
• Bryant's goal is his first since October 23, 2018 against UConn. The senior suffered a season-ending injury last season.
• Nagy has registered points in three of his last four games, with a total of four assists over that stretch.
• Silveira's clean sheet is his third of the season. The senior has only allowed one goal in four starts.

WHO'S NEXT
Vermont will return home for the regular season finale when it hosts New Hampshire on Friday (April 9). The kickoff is schedule for 5 p.m. at Virtue Field. The Catamounts can clinch the regular season title and host the conference championship with a victory over the Wildcats. The America East contest will also be Senior Night, presented by the UVM Alumni Association.
