The Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious award in college soccer, presented annually to the nation's top NCAA Division I soccer player. Brian Wright '17 was named a Hermann Trophy Semifinalist in 2016 as the first Catamount in program history to receive the accolade.

The pair of Catamounts are two of 44 players across NCAA Division I to earn the preseason honor. Egan and Nagy are two of only three players from America East on the list, joined by New Hampshire's Bridger Hansen.

Nagy was the ninth Catamount in program history last season to receive NCAA All-America recognition, and also earned America East All-Conference First Team and All-Championship Team honors. The Bow, New Hampshire native led Vermont's offense last season with six points (1 goals, 4 assists) in eight games played. The UVM midfielder's lone goal of the 2021 spring campaign came in the America East Semifinals to lift the Catamounts over NJIT for a berth in the conference championship.

Egan was a defensive stalwart for the Catamounts last season and earned America East All-Conference First Team honors. The Irvine, California native was pivotal on Vermont's back line as the Cats boasted the league's top defense in 2021. Egan also registered one goal on the season, which was the game-winning tally in the 89th-minute to defeat NJIT in the home opener.

The Catamount duo has already found the scoresheet this season in Vermont's season-opening win over Iona. Egan sent a deep lob that found its way as a secondary assist on the first UVM goal of the season. Nagy netted the insurance marker in the 66th minute to ensure the Vermont victory.

Nagy and Egan return to action on Sunday (Aug. 29) when the Catamounts visit Lehigh. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPN+.
