COACH'S QUOTE
"We came up a little short today against a very strong Dartmouth team," head coach
Kristi Huizenga said. "We possessed well for most of the game and had some good looks early that we weren't able to capitalize on. We look forward to getting back home Thursday against LIU."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts created the best chance in the first half of action in the 22nd minute. Sophomore Jill Brody chipped a perfect shot from 25 yards out that was destined for the top left corner before Dartmouth goalkeeper Charlotte Cyr was able to just push it over the bar.
- Vermont's Lydia Kessel made two saves in the first half as the teams played a scoreless opening 45.
- The Big Green's offensive push started right away in the second half. In the opening minute Dartmouth pushed in transition on a two-on-one opportunity. Allie Winstanley seemed certain to score on a point-blank chance but UVM's Natalie Durieux was able to dive across and block her shot.
- In the 55th minute Dartmouth was able to open scoring. The Big Green forced a turnover in the midfield and Winstanley played a perfect through ball to Hannah Curtin in the box. Curtin outmuscled a UVM defender and slotted home her first career goal with a shot just inside the far post.
- Just 2:02 later Winstanley earned another assist as Dartmouth doubled its advantage. From the end line Winstanley found Daisy Granholm in front of goal and she one-touched home her first career goal.
- As they have all season the Catamounts bounced right back. In the 63rd minute Alex West headed home her first goal of the campaign. A Vermont free kick was initially cleared but Abbey Knobel put the ball right back into the box and West won the ball in the air and slotted it past Cyr.
- The Big Green defense was in lockdown the rest of the contest. Dartmouth held UVM without another shot on goal to earn its second win of the season.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Catamounts offense has scored in each of its first three games for the first time since 2017. Vermont's eight goals in its first three contests are the most UVM has scored in its free three games of a season since scoring eight in 1984.
