STONY BROOK, N.Y. – A first-half tally by Aki Solvason was the clinching marker for Stony Brook (5-2, 1-0 AE) as the Seawolves defeated Vermont (5-1, 0-1 AE) 2-0 on Saturday night at Lavalle Stadium. The Catamounts suffered their first setback of the 2021 campaign.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The UVM attack tested Edmond Kaiser (5 saves) early with three shots in the opening seven minutes. Nacho Lerech tried the lower right corner twice, but was denied by the Seawolves' goalkeeper. The Catamounts had five shots before SBU's first shot.
- In the 37th minute, Solvason collected a deep ball from Gabriel Fernandes and took a touch before firing a shot into the upper right corner. The Stony Brook goal was the first conceded by Vermont this season.
- The Catamounts went on the offensive in the second half in hopes of finding the equalizer. Vermont had an 11-5 shot advantage in the final 45 minutes, but were only able to get two shots directed on goal.
- Jonas Bickus struck in the 60th minute to add an insurance marker for the Seawolves. Solvason and Kori Cupid were credited with assists.

- Vermont had a 17-7 shot advantage in 90 minutes of play with a 7-3 shot-on-goal advantage.
- Nacho Lerech had a team-high three shots on goal. Alex Nagy and Matt Black registered three shots for Vermont.
