COACH'S QUOTE
"Tough way to end this game after we battled back and had the momentum in the third period," Head Coach Jim Plumer said. "Credit to BC's goalie on a tremendous weekend. We simply dug ourselves a hole again and this time we couldn't complete the comeback. I love the way we pace we played with and the energy we had. Penalties certainly hurt us and we have to clean up a few things but we are going to back to work on Monday to get better."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Boston College opened the scoring on the power play 3:57 into the contest. Gaby Roy's cross-crease pass deflected off BC's Kate Ham in front and found its way past UVM's Jessie McPherson.
  • Cayla Barnes added another power play tally with 9:11 to go in the opening period. McPherson made an initial save on Abby Newhook but Hannah Bilka directed the rebound to Barnes alone at the backdoor and she tapped it home.
  • Vermont cut the lead in half with 50 seconds left in the first period. In transition Krista Parkkonen found Theresa Schafzahl in stride and she wired a wrist shot past Abigail Levy for her eighth goal of the season. Bella Parento was credited for the secondary assist.
  • Bilka reestablished the two-goal advantage with 12:04 to go in the middle frame. She cut into the slot skating to her right and lifted a perfectly placed backhander that McPherson never saw.
  • With 1:45 to go Schafzahl added another goal on the power play this time. She skated into the slot and fired a hard-low shot that Levy had no chance on. Sini Karjalainen earned the assist on the play.
  • The Catamounts equalized with 6:34 to play in the third period. From behind the net Maddy Skelton found Lilly Humphrey cutting to the net. Humphrey gathered the pass in the slot and roofed a wrist shot past Levy for her second goal of the season.
  • In overtime Browne took advantage of a UVM turnover at the BC line and skated in alone on McPherson. Her shot went off the bar and in for her ninth career game-winner.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Graduate forward Theresa Schafzahl extended her own program record for goals with 56 in her career now. In her career as a Catamount she now has 56 goals and 56 assists for 112 points.
  • BC's overtime win snapped a program record five-game unbeaten streak for Vermont against the Eagles.
  • BC goaltender Abigail Levy made 81 saves over the weekend against the Catamounts. She had 40 today.
