COACH'S QUOTE
"While we generated 40 shots on goal for a second evening in a row, we failed to put the game away when we could," Head Coach Todd Woodcroft said. "Last night our power play saved us but tonight when we had a chance to put Lindenwood on their heels we didn't capitalize. Lindenwood is a good team but we are not pleased with the overtime loss. Back to work on Monday."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Vermont opened the scoring 2:58 into the second period off an offensive zone faceoff. Luke Mountain won the puck back and Porter Schachle fired a one-timer past Lindenwood's Trent Burnham before he was set on the play.
  • The Lions equalized on the power play at the 7:57 mark of the second period. At the point Kabore Dunn dropped the puck to Cade DeStefani and he skated into the slot with a head of steam. Just as the Vermont defense closed in on DeStefani he fired a shot top corner for his fifth goal of the season.
  • UVM regained the lead with 7:59 left in the middle frame. Luca Münzenberger dumped the puck in from the neutral zone and Will Zapernick was first to the puck. From behind the net he spotted Timofei Spitserov in front. Spitserov created space among three Lions defenders and one-timed home his second goal of the season.
  • With 4:30 to go in the second the Lions equalized again with Andy Willis' fifth goal of the season. On a two-on-one Willis one-timed home a feed from Drew Kuzma just in front of UVM's Gabe Carriere.
  • In the final seconds of regulation Isak Walther broke in on a partial breakaway on Lindenwood's Burnham. At the buzzer Walther's shot rang just off the post.
  • On the game-winning sequence the Lions generated a two-on-two opportunity down low. Carriere made an initial save on Hunter Johannes and then made another stop on a rebound attempt from Gagnon, but Gagnon was able to stash home the third opportunity for the winner.
