COACH'S QUOTE
"It was a great day to send our seniors off with a big win, to get to 20 wins and clinch a home playoff game," said Head Coach Jim Plumer. "I wanted us to play with playoff intensity and we did that for the most part. What a game for Theresa Schafzahl who continues to have an amazing season. All of our seniors have made such an impact on this program and it is certainly our goal to make this last as long as we can. We are looking forward to a big challenge at BC next weekend."

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Reagan Miller opened the scoring for the Catamounts five minutes into the first period. She picked the pocket of a BU defender at the blueline and skated in alone on the Terriers Callie Shanahan before firing home her fifth goal of the season just under Shanahan's blocker.
  • In transition Schafzahl doubled UVM's lead 5:38 into the second period. Alyssa Holmes threaded the needle on a pass to Schafzahl who had a step on the BU defense. Schafzahl deked to her backhand and just beat Shanahan to the post for her first goal of the day.
  • With 6:35 left in the middle frame Schafzahl struck again, this time shorthanded. Kristina Shanahan tapped a puck up to Schafzahl and she blew by a BU defender and skated in alone on Callie Shanahan. With Shanahan waiting for another deke Schafzahl went five-hole to make it 3-0.
  • Kristina Shanahan lit the lamp herself 5:03 into the third period. She tallied a unique unassisted goal. Initially she cut into the slot and fired a shot towards the net. The puck ricocheted off someone in front. Nobody could find the puck, but Kristina did first and she fired a wrist shot home before anyone knew what happened.
  • With 1:37 left in regulation BU's Nadia Mattivi spoiled Jessie McPherson's shutout bid with her third goal of the season.
  • 41 seconds later Schafzahl completed her first career hat trick. With two BU defenders convering on her in the slot Schafzahl roofed a shot to the top corner just before they were able to get to her.
  • The Terriers Mackenna Parker closed out the scoring with her tenth goal of the season with 16 seconds left.
