STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Vermont (8-2, 1-1 AE) saw its winning streak snapped after suffering a 14-4 loss to No. 6 Stony Brook (6-2, 1-0 AE) on Saturday afternoon at Lavalle Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Stony Brook's Ellie Masera opened the scoring 5:25 into the afternoon on a pass from Jesse Arline. McKenzie Ballard found Maris Large minutes later to tie the game at 1-1 with 5:41 left in the quarter. The Seawolves' would add one more goal late in the frame to take a 2-1 lead through the opening 15 minutes.
- Rayna Sabella brought the Stony Brook lead up to two goals with a woman-up goal 3:42 into the second quarter, but Vermont countered with a free-position goal from Ava Vasile. The junior's marker cut the UVM deficit to one, trailing 3-2 with 9:23 left in the half. The Seawolves would then close out the first half with four-straight goals to take a 7-2 lead into the break.
- Stony Brook rattled off six unanswered goals in the third quarter to take a 13-2 lead with 15 minutes to play. Masera led the attack with two more goals in the third frame.
- Large broke Vermont's scoring drought in the four quarter, netting her second goal of the game with 10:14 remaining on a feed from Meghan O'Connor. The Seawolves added one more goal before Vasile's second free-position tally with 24 seconds left.

- UVM tallied four 11 shots on goal, with Vasile, Large, Kerry Gerety, and Taylor Mullen registering two shots on goal apiece.
- Vasile and Carolyn Carrera scooped up four ground balls each for the Catamounts. Vasile also caused a team-high three turnovers.
- Gerety and Grace Giancola led Vermont with five draw controls each.
- Sophie McLaughlin registered seven saves for the Catamounts.
