The red-hot Vermont field hockey team heads out on the road for pair of games this weekend starting Friday with a key conference bout at UAlbany. Two days later the Cats take on Colgate to wrap up a three-game road trip.

Vermont continued its strong play last weekend winning a pair of games. On Friday UVM took down America East newcomer Bryant, 2-1, to move to 3-0 in conference play.
Reggie Hillery scored the game-winner in the fourth quarter while
Meg Weyer scored her first career goal. The Cats traveled to Northeastern on Sunday and won their eighth straight game to continue a program-record run. It was UVM's first ever win over the Huskies in Massachusetts as
Mora Fernandez de Oliveira and
Sophia Drees provided the offense in
Sierra Espeland's 11
th career shutout.

FERNANDEZ DE OLIVEIRA COLLECTS WEEKLY AWARD

The first-year forward from Argentina collected her first weekly award being name America East Rookie of the Week. She scored the game-winning goal at Northeastern on Sunday. Fernandez de Oliveira has two goals this season and both are game-winners.

Vermont has won a program-record eight straight games and is 3-0 in league play for the second time under head coach
Kate Pfeifer. Vermont is currently tied with No. 1 North Carolina for the longest win streak in the country.

SCOUTING THE GREAT DANES

UAlbany enters the Friday afternoon matchup against the Catamounts with a 6-3 overall record and a 1-1 record in conference games. Last weekend they won 5-1 against California and lost 2-1 against Maine. Alison Smisdom leads the team in scoring with nine goals and 21 points while teammates Luisa Knapp and Sophia Schoonmaker have each recorded four goals. Goalkeeper Hannah Mangan has a 5-2 record in seven starts and a 1.33 goals-against-average.

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS

Colgate (2-8) looks to break its seven-game losing streak against the Catamounts on Sunday's afternoon matchup. They lost 8-0 against Cornell and 3-1 against Bucknell last weekend. Ella Murphy and Dani Palmer both lead the team in scoring with three goals and seven points apiece. Goalkeeper Anna Unger has a 2-8 record in 10 starts and a 4.23 goals-against-average.

Friday's matchup will be the 30
th all-time between UVM and UAlbany with the Great Danes holding a commanding 25-4 advantage. Last season, UAlbany struck in overtime to defeat UVM 3-2. The last three games have all been decided by one goal. Colgate leads the all-time series with Vermont 12-9-3. The Cats have won five straight in the series, however, including a 4-1 win in 2019. Ten of the prior 24 matchups have gone to overtime.
