COACH'S QUOTE
"First of all, thank you to the 2,705 fans who came out to see this game tonight and set a Hockey East attendance record. They certainly saw a lot of goals," Head Coach
Jim Plumer said. "Obviously we are disappointed with the outcome and especially letting a great start and a 3-0 lead go for naught. Credit to Boston College for battling back. We will certainly be focused on playing a more complete game tomorrow."
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Catamounts took the lead 11:11 into the first period when Rose-Marie Brochu passed to Kaylee Lewis. Lewis drove a shot from the left point, securing her second career goal. Natalie Zarcone earned the secondary assist.
- Natálie Mlýnková extended Vermont's lead with 4:17 remaining in the opening frame. Alaina Tanski, capitalizing on a Boston College turnover caused by Krista Parkkonen, set up Mlýnková for a one-on-one rush. Mlýnková skillfully toe-dragged around the lone defender and deposited the puck top-shelf.
- Less than a minute into the second period, the Catamounts widened their lead to three. Mlýnková connected with Lily Humphries, who swiftly delivered a centering pass to Maddy Skelton. Skelton, positioned in the slot, lifted the puck into the top right corner for her second goal of the season.
- The Eagles responded 4:17 into the second period, reducing the Catamount lead to 3-1. After Julia Pellerin's initial attempt was saved, Sammy Taber seized the rebound, seeking a second chance. Abby Newhook capitalized on Taber's effort, finding the net from just outside the crease.
- Boston College reduced the UVM lead to one just 1:31 into the third period. Jade Arnone located Gaby Roy in front of the net, and Roy backhanded in her sixth goal of the season, bringing the Catamounts' lead to 3-2.
- Newhook secured her second goal of the game 13:26 into the third period, leveling the score at three apiece. Initiating a two-on-two rush, Newhook took charge and fired the puck into the top left corner of the net, equalizing the game.
- Boston College seized the lead with a crucial powerplay goal at 5:03 remaining in the final period. Taber located Pellerin in the slot, and Pellerin executed a backhand shot to lift the Eagles to a 4-3 advantage. Newhook recorded the secondary assist on the play.
- Taber extended the Eagles' lead with an additional goal in the third period. At the 16:14 mark, Pellerin released a shot that ricocheted off Taber's skate and found its way into the back of the net.
