KINGSTON, RI – The Catamounts got off to a fast start on Friday night (Nov. 17) in the first day of the Harold Anderson Invitational claiming four first place victories and set two Tootell Aquatic Center records. After day one of the invitational Vermont sits in first place with 280 points while Rhode Island (242) and Maine (170.5) round out the top three. Holy Cross sits in fourth with 165 points while Wagner is fifth with 160.5.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Vermont started Friday night off with a bang when the combination of Havana Layton, Emma Wainwright, Jackie House and Anastazja Szukala set a Tootell Aquatic Center record in the 200 free relay in a time of 1:35.86.
- In the next even the Catamounts earned a one-two finish in the 500 free with House finishing first in a time of 4:55.54. Classmate Ella Church finished second in a time of 4:56.45.
- Continuing Vermont's hot day Hally Laney set another pool record, finishing first in the 200 IM in a time of 2:04.31, almost a full second and a half ahead of the field.
- Layton earned another first place victory for the Catamounts in the 50 free, finishing in 23.88.
- To finish the night, Alexis Torykian, Natalie Schlemmer, Laney and House placed second in the 400 medley relay in a time of 3:49.07.
UP NEXT
The Catamounts will compete in day two of the Harold Anderson Invitational on Saturday (Nov. 18). The prelims will begin at 10 a.m. with the finals beginning at 5:30 p.m. On Sunday, Vermont will compete in the final day of the invitational with prelims beginning at 9:30 a.m. and the finals starting at 3 p.m. The action will not be broadcast live.
