PHILADELPHIA – Claire Adelhelm posted a team-high three points, but Vermont (0-1) suffered a 10-5 loss to Temple (1-0) in its season opener on Friday at Howarth Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts jumped out of the gates and scored on their first possession. Maddie Erskine notched Vermont's first goal of the season. The sophomore spun around a Temple defender and fired a shot into the far corner for the 1-0 lead.
- Maeve Tobin answered minutes later to tie the game at 1-1 with 11:30 left in the first quarter. Her goal sparked a 4-0 run as the Owls would take a 4-1 lead through the opening frame.
- Adelhelm scored the lone goal of the second quarter to cut Vermont's deficit to 4-2. The sophomore cut inside and found the back of the net for her first of the season, coming with 2:26 left in the half.
- Temple's lead grew back to three goals with 8:10 left in the third quarter on a goal by Mackenzie Roth. Ava Vasile answered before the end of the frame as the Cats trailed 5-3 with 15 minutes to play.
- The Owls opened up the fourth quarter with four straight goals to take a 9-3 lead with 6:58 remaining. Belle Mastropietro scored twice in the fourth quarter to help grow the Temple lead.
- Lily Trainor netted her first goal of the season with 4:52 to end the Temple run and cut the deficit to 9-4 with 4:52 remaining. Julie Schickling responded quickly for the Owls 1:30 later.
- Jane Trauger scored her first collegiate goal with 57 seconds left on an assist by Claire Adelhelm. The rookie circled around the Temple net before firing a shot that beat Taylor Grollman (8 saves).

- Adelhelm picked up her team-high three points on one goal and two assists. The sophomore also tallied three shots and picked up three ground balls.
- Vasile, Trauger, and Meghan O'Connor each recorded a team-high four shots on the day.
- Caroline Carrera and Erin Kloostra tallied a team-high three caused turnovers.
- Sophie McLaughlin recorded six saves in goal for the Catamounts.
