BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Hannah Kenneally's overtime goal stymied a comeback bid as Vermont (0-3) fell to LIU (2-2) 10-9 on Wednesday at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- LIU scored four-straight goals to open the game. Julia Trainor netted the game's first goal 4:50 into the contest with her third marker of the season. Kenneally had a goal and an assist during the run, and Leah Nonnenmann added her fourth goal of the season as the Sharks led 4-0 with 3:30 left in the first quarter.
- Jane Trauger stopped the LIU run with her third goal of the season, coming with 2:29 to play in the opening frame. The rookie received a pass from Claire Adelhelm and rifled a shot past Lily Bilello (8 saves) for the goal.
- Lluna Katz scored for the Sharks with 0:19 left on the clock for a 5-1 lead at the end of the first quarter.
- UVM and LIU held each other off the scoresheet for a majority of the second quarter, until the Catamounts broke through with three-straight goals. Trauger netted her second of the game on a free-position shot with 6:15 on the clock, followed by goals from Ava Vasile and Lily Trainor to cut the deficit to 5-4 with 3:38 left in the half.
- Gina Toscano and Katz countered for the Sharks, each scoring in the final minutes to take a 7-4 halftime lead.
- Vermont chipped away at the LIU lead in the third quarter, outscoring the Sharks 2-1 in the frame. LIU struck first with a goal from Ava Taylor 2:41 into the frame. UVM answered Meghan O'Connor's second tally of the season, coming just 30 seconds later. Kendall Traveis scored her first of the season with 6:16 left in the frame as Vermont trailed 8-6 heading into the final quarter.
- Maddie Erskine pulled the Catamounts even with back-to-back goals early in the fourth quarter. The UVM attacker scored her first of the game by cutting into the middle of the offensive third and firing a shot past Bilello to bring the deficit to one with 3:14 remaining. Erskine's second goal came 33 seconds later when she converted on a pass from Adelhelm for the 8-8 equalizer.
- Julia Trainor put the Sharks back in front with a free-position goal with 8:57 remaining.
- Vasile scored the goal that forced overtime with 7:53 remaining in regulation. The senior weaved through a pair of LIU defenders and cut to the net for her second tally of the game.
- Kenneally secured the overtime victory for with 3:32 left in the extra frame. The Sharks' attacker shook off a UVM defender and beat Sophie McLaughlin (11 saves) for the winning marker.
