FIELD HOCKEY NOTEBOOKÂ
The Catamounts (2-3) will take to the road for the first time this season when they travel to take on Iowa and Merrimack. Vermont will face top-ranked Iowa (6-0) on Friday (Sept. 15) at 4 p.m. for the first time in program history. Saturday at 3Â p.m., they will face a familiar foe in Merrimack (0-5). Friday's game will be aired on Big Ten Plus.Â

Vermont lost to Boston University on Sunday in a game that saw the Catamounts rally from a goal down to force overtime. Vermont would end up losing it in double overtime, 4-3. Sophia Drees got the scoring started with her third goal of the season. Reggie Hillery and Haley Buffenbarger each recorded their first goals, with Buffenbarger's being the goal that sent the game to overtime. Maddie Moran recorded two assists for her first multi-point game of the year, and Lauren Halenkamp had another solid day in cage with six saves.Â
SCOUTING THE HAWKEYES
Top-ranked Iowa enters the Friday afternoon matchup after defeating Central Michigan and UMass Lowell last weekend. Dionne van Aalsum leads the team in scoring with 16 goals and 32 points, while Miranda Jackson and Sophia Stribos have recorded eight and seven points, respectively. Goalkeeper Mia Magnotta has a 6-0 record in six starts and a 0.50 goals-against-average.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORSÂ
Merrimack enters the Saturday afternoon matchup after dropping two games to Bryant and Dartmouth last week. Julie Wester leads the team in scoring with four goals and eight points, while Anne-Sophie Hogenboom and Lauren Burke have recorded three and two points, respectively. Goalkeeper Brooke Balduc has a 0-5 record in 5 starts and a 5.38 goals-against-average.
SERIES HISTORY
The Catamounts and Hawkeyes meet for the first time. UVM is 2-0 in two meetings with Merrimack, including a 6-1 victory last season.
