COACH'S QUOTE
"Taking nine penalties is not a recipe for success versus any team, but certainly versus the #1 team in the country," Head Coach
Steve Wiedler said. "We have to make a decision as a program if we are going to consistently do the little things that equal success at this level."Â Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers opened the scoring on the power play 11:37 into the first period. Tom Willander fired a shot from the point that Luke Tuch deflected right in front of UVM's Gabe Carriere for his sixth goal of the season.
- BU's Macklin Celebrini doubled the Terriers advantage with 1:31 to play in the opening frame. In transition Lane Hutson found the first year forward cutting in the Vermont zone and he fired a quick shot under Carriere's blocker for his team-leading 14th tally of the year.
- Vermont cut the Terriers advantage in half 6:15 into the middle frame. Jens Richards cut down the BU wing and his initial attempt was stopped by the Terriers Mathieu Caron. But Richards stuck with the play and got to the rebound first. He quickly passed over to Joel Määttä. With two BU defenders converging on Määttä he passed over to Thomas Sinclair on the opposite wing for a one-timer he blew past Caron for his third goal of the season.
- The Terriers regained their two-goal lead 2:15 later on a five-on-three power play. Macklin Celebrini one-timed a feed from Ryan Greene to pick up his fifth multi-goal game of the season.
- Dylan Peterson and Quinn Hutson (PPG) scored 1:10 apart in the opening moments of the third period to put the game out of reach.
