COACH'S QUOTE
"We have to understand that we are exacerbating mistakes with emotional immaturity," said Head Coach Steve Wiedler. "We're in a 1-1 game at home in the 2nd period. We took 21 PIMs in a five-minute span. We take two penalties on one play to give Clarkson a 5-on-3. They're a very strong defensive team. It's going to be a one goal game either way. Those decisions are everything."

"On top of that," continued Wiedler. "We can't only generate 18 shots for.  We need our top guys to lead from the front in all these areas.  The answers are in that locker room.  We're going to find them."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Catamounts opened the scoring early in the first period. From the point Luca Münzenberger wristed the puck right into the top corner and a screened Ethan Langenegger never saw the shot. Münzenberger's first of the season was assisted by Colin Kessler and Simon Jellus and came 2:43 into the opening frame.
  • Clarkson equalized 3:26 into the second period on an odd-man rush. The Golden Knights entered the UVM zone on a three-on-two and Ayrton Martino tapped home a feed from Ryan Taylor to tie things at one.
  • The Golden Knights took the lead during a two minute five-on-three power play. On the doorstep Taylor took a feed from Ryan Richardson and tucked it home for his first goal of the season at the 8:58 mark of the second.
  • Clarkson put the contest out of reach with an empty-net tally from Trey Taylor with 35 seconds left in the contest.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
