ORONO, ME. – Maine scored five straight goals to begin the game, securing the 5-1 victory against Vermont on Friday afternoon at Harold Alfond Sports Arena. With the result, the Catamounts fall to 2-7-0 overall and 1-4-0 in Hockey East play while Maine improves to 2-7-0 overall and 2-3-0 in Hockey East Play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Black Bears opened scoring 12 minutes into the first period, earning the 1-0 lead thanks to Lily Fetch finding the back of the net after receiving a cross-crease pass from Ava Stevenson, giving Maine the one goal cushion.
- With less than one minute remaining in the period, Alaina Tanski scored, going five-hole on the Maine goalie, but the equalizing tally was eliminated after further review, as UVM was assessed a 5-minute major boarding penalty, allowing the Black Bears to take the 1-0 lead into the second period of action.
- Maine scored 31 seconds into the second frame on the powerplay when Kendall Sundby notched her first career collegiate goal, earning the Black Bears a 2-0 advantage.
- Stevenson made it 3-0 in favor of the Black Bears, sniping her shot to the top right corner in the slot, elevating Maine to a three-goal cushion 13:57 into the second period.
- The Black Bears buried two more goals within the first 12 minutes of the final period of action.
- Vermont got on the scoreboard 12:48 into the third period thanks to Cecilia DesLauriers tallying her first collegiate goal, unassisted, bringing the score to 5-1 in favor of Maine.
- No goals were scored for the remainder of the game, as the Black Bears secured their second win of the season, 5-1.
