Catamounts Fall to Miami in NCAA Tournament

FINAL SCORE: Miami 2, Vermont 1
EVANSTON, Ill. – Paula Navarro's 48th-minute goal proved the difference as Miami (14-7, 7-1) defeated Vermont (11-9, 3-3) in the play-in game of the NCAA tournament. The loss wraps up the Catamounts 2024 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Red Hawks opened the scoring two minutes in when Reese Wearren scored on a rebound.
Mora Fernandez de Oliveira had the first chance for Vermont as her seventh-minute shot was saved.
The Catamounts forced the Red Hawks into two more saves in the 12th minute, saving Lotte Kanters and Sophia Lefranc's shots.
Marie Dijkstra had the Vermont's best chance of the second quarter when her 23rd-minute shot was saved.
Maddie Priestly tied the game up with 31 seconds to go in the third quarter off an assist from Lefranc.
Miami retook the lead in the 48th minute when Navarro scored off a rebound.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

With her goal, Priestly reaches double-digit points for the first time in her career and has a career-high five goals.
Merle Vaandrager had three saves in the loss. She finishes the season with the single season record for shutouts (7) and goals against average (1.11).
Sophia Drees finishes her career as the program leader in assists and finishes sixth in career points with 74.
