COACH'S QUOTE
"I don't know what to say," said Head Coach Stephen Wiedler. "I'm really sorry to our fan base for that performance. We gave up three goals on 15 shots against. Way too many passengers tonight among our forward group. Going to have to shake up the group here. This isn't OK."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Big Green opened the scoring 4:34 into the opening frame. In transition Oskari Vuorio put a puck on net and UVM's Axel Mangbo made the initial save. But the puck was loose in the crease and Vuorio tapped it home for his first career goal. CJ Foley picked up an assist on the play.
  • Dartmouth doubled its advantage 5:47 into the middle frame. With a Vermont defender without his stick the Big Green cycled the puck along the point. Defenseman John Fusco stepped into a wrist shot from the top of the slot and beat Mangbo through traffic.
  • Vermont cut the Big Green lead in half 40 seconds into the third period. Colin Kessler broke down the slot and got a shot way that Dartmouth's Emmett Croteau padded aside. Kessler got his own rebound, circled back to the slot and fed Max Strand on the backdoor for a one-timer into the empty half of the net. Joel Määttä picked up the secondary assist on the play.
  • Foley added an insurance marker for the Big Green on the power play with 10:01 to play in the third period. It was the first power play goal against UVM had given up since November 2. The Catamounts challenged the goal for offside, but video review was inconclusive.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • First Year Max Strand continues to lead the team in scoring with two goals and eight assists for 10 points.
  • Tonight was Dartmouth's first win at Gutterson Fieldhouse since October 28, 2007.
  • With tonight's 3-1 decision, Community Bank N.A. will donate $75 to Special Olympics Vermont. Community Bank, N.A. donates $75 per goal to Special Olympics Vermont for every goal the men's and women's team scores this season.
