COACH'S QUOTE
"Tough for us not to get more than a point today in a game where I thought we played well for the most part," Head Coach
Jim Plumer said. "We are creating a lot of offense and playing solid team defense. That's the recipe we need to continue with on this stretch run."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles opened the scoring 1:49 into the contest with a two-on-one opportunity in transition. Sidney Fess passed across the zone to Katie Pyne and she was able to pick up her 10th goal of the season quickly working to her backhand and sliding the puck past Jessie McPherson.
- Vermont got back on even footing 4:05 into the middle frame. In the Vermont zone Natalie Zarcone passed over to Bella Parento as the Catamounts looked to breakout. Parento fed a beautiful pass from blue line to blue line to Mlýnková. Mlýnková blew by a BC defender and then as she cut to the middle of the ice the last BC defender dove at her attempting a poke check. Mlýnková dragged the puck behind her to evade the diving Eagles player before roofing a shot bardown for her 16th goal of the season.
- Zarcone appeared to give the Catamounts the lead with 9:52 to play in the middle frame. After a lengthy review the officials ruled the Vermont entry into the zone was offside.
- BC regained the lead on a fortuitous bounce with 4:33 to play in the second period. A cross-ice pass from one Vermont defender to another deflected off a UVM skate and found the back of the net. BC's Julia Pellerin was credited with the goal on the play.
- With 21 seconds left in the middle frame Humphrey equalized for the Catamounts. In transition Vermont broke into the BC zone on a three-on-three. Alaina Tanski carried the puck to the outside before centering a feed to Humphrey right in front. In one motion Humphrey gathered the puck and fired it past Grace Campbell's glove to tie the game.
- The two teams combined for 25 shots in a back and forth third period with chances on both ends. Then during the three-on-three overtime UVM outshot the Eagles 4-2. But Campbell and McPherson didn't blink.
- In the shootout Boston College's Kara Goulding scored the only goal to earn the additional league point for the Eagles.
