BOSTON – Quinn Hutson posted his second hat trick of the season leading the second-ranked Boston University Terriers in a 6-1 win over Vermont Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale for both teams. With the win, Boston University improves to 24-8-2 while the Catamounts fell to 13-18-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers opened the scoring 9:04 into the first period on the first power play of the game. With a broken play in front Aiden Celebrini quickly passed the puck over to Quinn Hutson in the slot and he beat UVM's Axel Mangbo with a snapshot under the blocker to make it 1-0. Hutson's 14th goal of the year was also assisted by Lane Hutson.
- With 1:41 left in the opening frame Hutson scored on a very similar play, again on the power play. He received the puck on the wing from Lane Hutson and fired another snapshot past Mangbo.
- Simon Jellus cut the Terriers lead in half with a power play marker of his own 5:52 into the second period. From the top of the slot Jellus fired his sixth goal of the season past BU's Mathieu Caron through traffic. Andrei Buyalsky and Isak Walther earned assists on the play.
- The Jellus power play marker came during a five-minute major for contact to the head. Just 47 seconds later the Terriers responded with a shorthanded marker to reestablish the Terriers three-goal lead. Ryan Greene dropped a pass to Nick Zabaneh and he fired a wrist shot past Mangbo for his eighth goal of the season.
- The Terriers put the game out of reach with two goals in 39 seconds in the third period. Macklin Celebrini scored on the power play for his 29th goal of the year and Jack Harvey scored his fifth of the year.
- Hutson completed his hat trick with a power play marker with six seconds left in regulation.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- First year goaltender Axel Mangbo made his first career start this afternoon. He made 33 saves.
- The Catamounts blocked a season-high 19 shots Saturday evening, led by Mario Gasparini who blocked four shots.
- With tonight's 6-1 decision, Community Bank N.A. will donate $75 to Special Olympics Vermont. Community Bank, N.A. donates $75 per goal to Special Olympics Vermont for every goal the men's and women's team scores this season.

Vermont is back in action on Wednesday, March 13 in the Hockey East Opening Round. As the nine-seed UVM will travel to Storrs to face the nine-seed UConn in a single-elimination playoff game. Puck drop from the Toscano Forum is set for 7 p.m. The Huskies and Catamounts fourth matchup of the season will air live on ESPN+ As always, the game will be broadcast live on WVMT with the voice of the Catamounts Adam Lafleur in the Handy Toyota Broadcast Booth.Â

It will be the second time the Catamounts have faced the Huskies in the Hockey East Opening Round. In March of 2016 Vermont swept a best-of-three series with the Huskies with 2-1 and 4-3 wins at the XL Center in downtown Hartford. Six different goal scorers found the back of the net for UVM.
