LOWELL, Mass. – Ava Vasile added to her list of program records with her 219th career goal in the regular season finale Saturday afternoon at UMass Lowell. The Catamounts fell to the River Hawks 16-11 to wrap up the season with an 8-8 (1-5 AE) record.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Vasile quickly found the back of the net, scoring her 54th goal of the season 1:40 into the contest.
- Audra Hansen scored the equalizer for UMass Lowell 1:23 later to make the score 1-1. Grace Lydon was credited with an assist on the goal.
- Jade Catlin and Megan Brockbank added goals for the River Hawks to take a 3-1 lead with 8:17 left in the opening quarter.
- Vasile notched her second goal of the game with 7:11 remaining in the first frame when she dodged a UML defender and snuck a shot past Alexa Kuhn (11 saves) short side to cut the deficit to one.
- McKenzie Ballard tied the game at 3-3 with 4:38 on the clock, scoring her 27th goal of the season.
- Vasile found Erin Kloostra cutting toward the UML net where she quickly fired a shot while drawing heavy contact, putting Vermont in front 4-3 with 2:54 left in the first quarter. The Catamounts would take the one-goal lead into the second frame.
- Hansen's second goal of the game, 4:37 into the second quarter, sparked a 5-0 run for the River Hawks. Chloe Bowers had two goals in the scoring run as the River Hawks led 8-4 with 4:52 to go in the half.
- Karina Sethi ended Vermont's 14:22 scoring drought when Vasile found her to the right of Kuhn for the quick catch and score.
- Vasile registered her 218th career goal in the final seconds of the second quarter, tying the program's all-time record set by Sydney Mas '14. Claire Adelhelm was credited with the assist as Vermont trailed 8-6 heading into the break.
- Ballard quickly scored coming out of the break, netting her second goal of the game 0:50 into the frame, to cut the UMass Lowell lead to 8-7.
- Lydon put the River Hawks back up two with a woman-up goal 2:32 later. Jillian Goldie was credited with an assist on the goal.
- Lydia Doraz countered with a woman-up goal on the free position to cut the UVM deficit once again, down 9-8 with 11:15 remaining in the third quarter.
- UMass Lowell scored four unanswered goals over the remainder of the third quarter to enter the final frame up 13-8.
- Vasile registered her record-setting goal with 10:12 remaining in the game. The graduate student cut around a UML defender and fired a short-sided shot past Kuhn for her 219th career tally.
- Jillian Goldie scored two straight goals, followed by a tally by Brockbank as UMass Lowell led 16-9 with 2:58 left.
- Sethi and Lindsay Lefebvre scored for Vermont in the closing minutes of the 2024 campaign.

- Vasile ends her career as Vermont's all-time record holder in goals (219) and points (269). She finishes second all-time in draw controls (263) and tied fifth in assists (50). Vasile also owns single-season records in goals (63 in 2022) and points (79 in 2022).
