HOW IT HAPPENED
- Vermont opened the scoring with 3:17 to play in the first period off an won offensive zone faceoff. Will Zapernick won the puck clean back to Jax Wismer at the point. Wismer fired a wrist shot towards the net that Massimo Lombardi redirected home for his eighth goal of the season.
- Midway through the second period Blake Steenerson was assessed a five-minute major for contact to the head following a video review. The Catamounts penalty kill was exemplary. UVM killed off the first 2:33 without giving up a shot and drew a NU penalty on a two-on-one rush. Over the five minutes the Huskies didn't register a single shot.
- The Huskies equalized with 3:47 to play in the second period. Jack Williams cut through two Vermont defenders on a transition play and roofed a shot from right in front into the top corner past UVM's Axel Mangbo for his 11th goal of the season.
- Just 56 seconds later the Huskies took their first lead of the contest with another transition opportunity. On a one-on-two rush Cam Lund fired a wrist shot that deflected off a Vermont defender and fluttered past Mangbo to make it 2-1.
- Williams struck again with 4:33 to play in the third period. Again, in transition he picked the top corner with a wicked wrist shot to make it 3-1.
- The Catamounts like the night before pulled their goalie for the extra attacker and they came away with a near carbon copy of their late goal from Colin Kessler last night. Once again, Luca Münzenberger took a pass from Jax Wismer along the blue line and feathered a pass to Colin Kessler, this time a few feet behind the faceoff dot. Kessler one-timed home his team-leading ninth goal of the season to make it 3-2 with 24 seconds left in regulation.
- The Catamounts won the ensuing faceoff but couldn't get another shot on goal.
