COACH'S QUOTE
"Solid win for us tonight," said Head Coach
Jim Plumer. "I loved how much offensive zone time we had, and we really played a team game tonight. We've got to work on finishing our chances. Franklin Pierce plays hard, and it will be tough for us to score again tomorrow."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first period that saw Vermont hold Franklin Pierce to zero shots on goal, the Catamounts pounced on the scoreboard first 10:57 into the second frame when Ashley Kokavec and Rose-Marie Brochu set up Oona Havana with a breakaway, using her backhand to beat Rylee Eno, securing her third goal of the season. Havana has a goal in back-to-back games for the first time this season.
- Vermont doubled the lead less than two minutes later, this time seeing Lauren O'Hara set up Josie Hemp back door. O'Hara fed Hemp a cross-crease pass, wasting no time burying the puck to the back of the net for her second goal of the season, earning the Catamounts a 2-0 lead. Stella Retrum was awarded the secondary assist.
- With 49 seconds remaining in the final period, Kaylee Lewis closed the game, securing an empty net tally, scoring her third goal of the season, earning Vermont the 3-0 win on home ice.
