BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Catamounts (10-7, 4-1 AE) defeated Maine (6-11, 1-4 AE) 4-1 Thursday afternoon at Moulton Winder Field to clinch the No.1 seed in the upcoming America East Tournament. Vermont will host its first-ever America East Tournament match on Tuesday, November 4, in a semifinal slated for 1 p.m. With a 4-1 league record, the Catamounts earned a share of their first-ever Regular Season title in Field Hockey.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Junior Consu de Castro started the scoring when she fired a backhand shot on goal that made it past Maine's goalkeeper to score the first goal in the 34th minute.Â

In the 37th minute, First-year Gabby Santini found the loose ball and put it in the back of the net to score her third goal of the season.

In the 38th minute, Sophomore Addie Delorefice tipped the ball to make it a 3-0 Catamount lead. First-year Fiona McMahon assisted on the goal.Â

In the 57th minute, First-year Veerle Nijhuis ripped a shot that found the back of the net for her seventh goal of the season.Â
