Syracuse and Hofstra are both no strangers to Vermont as the Catamounts have seen each team twice since the 2022 season. UVM went head-to-head with Syracuse on two different occasions in 2022, once in the regular season while the Orange were ranked No. 15 in the country that resulted in a 1-1 draw, then three months later in the NCAA Quarterfinals where Syracuse secured a 2-1 win.
The Catamounts took down seven-seed Hofstra in last season's NCAA Tournament Second Round thanks to a magnificent game-winning goal by
David Ismail and then defeated the Pride once again this season courtesy an 84th minute game-winning goal from
Niels Hartman. Both Vermont victories were by a score of 2-1.
The Second-Round matchup against either Syracuse or Hofstra will kick off at 1 p.m. ET at Virtue Field and will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with
Brian McLaughlin on the call.
