COACH'S QUOTE
"Again, Holy Cross shut things down on our offense and they got the sweep," said Head Coach
Jim Plumer. "We will regroup during our break and look for a fresh start in 2026."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Holy Cross opened scoring 4:56 into the first period when Emily Crovo scored her second goal of the season, cutting to the middle and finding the high blocker side, earning the Crusaders a 1-0 advantage.
- The Catamounts pounced back, scoring 6:13 into the middle frame when Sophia DeAnzeris connected with Lauren O'Hara on a breakout pass, who then found Retrum upon entering the Holy Cross zone. While battling the sticks of multiple Crusader defenders, Retrum was able to fire a shot towards Abby Hornung, beating her five-hole, securing her sixth goal of the season and knotting the score at 1-1.
- The Crusaders regained the lead 2-1 on the power play 13:30 into the second period, seeing Hannah Deck set up Alexia Moreau for a one-time slap shot, pinning the top left corner and collecting her seventh goal on the campaign.
- Vermont successfully killed two Holy Cross power plays in the final frame, but the Crusader defense never let up on the Catamount offensive push, successfully orchestrating the 2-1 road victory from Gutterson Fieldhouse.
