COACH'S QUOTE
"Tough loss tonight to a very gritty Holy Cross team that played fantastic," said Head Coach
Jim Plumer. "It was hard to find quality ice for us and we are going to have to work hard tomorrow to get quality looks at the net."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Holy Cross scored the lone goal in the opening period, finding the back of the net on a powerplay 3:43 into the game thanks to Reghan Chadwick notching her fourth goal of the season, earning Holy Cross the 1-0 lead.
- Sydney Correa shined in the second period, making 12 total saves in the middle frame alone, including a breakaway stop and multiple odd woman rushes, as a scoreless second period sent the Catamounts into the final frame down a goal, 1-0.
- 2:49 into the final period, Holy Cross seemingly doubled their lead again on the powerplay when a shot from the point by Hannah Deck squeaked under the arm of Correa and crossed the goal line, but after further review it was determined that an amazing awareness play from Ashley Kokavec to clear the puck out of harm's way before the puck ever fully crossed the goal line deducted the Crusader goal, keeping the Holy Cross lead at bay, 1-0.
- The Catamounts rallied eight more shots on net throughout the duration of the final period, but the efforts weren't enough to beat Abby Hornung as Holy Cross skated away with the 1-0 home victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Correa finished with 26 total saves on the night and a .963 save percentage.
- Lara Beecher tallied a team high five shots on goal, the sixth time this season Beecher has notched five or more shots on goal.
- Julia Mesplède tied a career high with three shots on goal against Holy Cross on Saturday night.
