Fairfield, CT. – Vermont (2-2) took a loss in Fairfield, CT on Wednesday afternoon, falling to Fairfield (2-3) at Rafferty Stadium. Caitlin Haggerty led the Catamounts with three goals.

"A frustrating loss that we need to learn from." head coach Sarah Dalton Graddock said. "I thought we created great opportunities at different points in the game, but we need to be more consistent and learn throughout.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Catamounts started off the match with a goal from Emily Cutler. This was Cutler's first collegiate goal.
  • Fairfield ended the 1st quarter with three straight goals.
  • At the 11:18 mark in the 2nd quarter, Caitlin Haggerty scored a bounce shot off a free position shot. Cats were still down 4-2.
  • Two minutes later, Fairfield responded with their own free position goal.
  • Claire Adelhelm hit a spin move which freed her up for a top-shelf goal as UVM trailed 3-5 with six minutes remaining.
  • Kendall Travies bobbled a pass from Claire Adelhelm and then batted the ball in for a goal before the end of the 1st half.
  • At halftime, Vermont was down 4-5.
  • Two minutes into the 2nd half, Caitlin Haggerty scored her second goal of the game thanks to a dodge. Catamounts tied it up 5-5.
  • A minute later, Fairfield retook the lead 6-5.
  • At the 8:34 mark, Lindsay Lefebvre scored her first goal of the afternoon to tie the game at 6.
  • After another Fairfield goal, Maddie Erskine tied the game at 7 with six minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter.
  • The Stags scored three straight goals to end the 3rd quarter. UVM trailed 7-10.
  • Fairfield opened up the 4th quarter with three straight goals.
  • At the 9:28 mark, Caitlin Haggerty scored her third goal of the game off a free position shot. UVM still trailed 8-12.
  • 30 seconds later, Lydia Doraz scored her first goal of the contest off a free position shot cutting the deficient to 3.
  • A minute later, Doraz buried another free position shot as UVM trailed 10-13 with 8 minutes remaining.
  • With five minutes remaining, Fairfield scored the final goal of the match going up 14-10.
