Men's Lacrosse Falls at Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H. — Tristan Whitaker and Charlie O'Brien each had a pair of goals, but Vermont (2-2) fell to Dartmouth (3-1) on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Big Green scored the first two goals of the game through Colin McGill and Tyler Juhlin, who both scored within the first five minutes.
  • Jack Combs cut the deficit to one off an assist from Matthew Drimmie and put the Catamounts on the board when he scored with just under eight minutes played in the first.  
  • Dartmouth restored the two-goal advantage with an unassisted goal from Thomas Power at the 5:21 mark.
  • Vermont made it 3-2 14 seconds later when Zach Davis scored a man-up goal off an assist from Drimmie.
  • Hopper Zapitello and Thomas Power combined for a goal each at the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second to push the Big Green lead back to three.
  • The Catamounts then responded with four straight to take their first lead of the game.
  • O'Brien cut the deficit to two when he scored off an assist from Walter Zhao just seven seconds after Power made it 5-2.
  • O'Brien cut it to one when he picked up his second goal off an assist from Eddie Schwasnick with just under nine minutes to go in the first half.
  • Drimmie tied the game at five 10 seconds after O'Brien's goal when he scored unassisted.
  • Ryker Demarest gave the Catamounts the 6-5 lead when he scored off an assist from Tatum Lewis at the 7:18 mark.
  • Dartmouth tied it at six 40 seconds later when Zappitello scored off an assist from Juhlin.
  • Colin Bullock restored the Vermont lead when he scored unassisted twenty seconds later, giving the Catamounts a 7-6 halftime lead.
  • Ben DiGiovanni tied the game up for the Big Green with six minutes left in the third quarter after an assist from McGill.
  • A minute later, Whitaker made it 8-7 when he scored unassisted.
  • Dartmouth then responded with a three-goal run to tie the game and double its advantage, with two goals from Emmett Paradine and a goal from Brandon Ventarola.
  • Whitaker cut the deficit to one when he scored with just over five minutes to go with an assist from Luke Reiter.
  • The Big Green responded with four straight from Paradine, McGill, and two from Power, making it 14-9 at the end.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Drimmie led the Catamounts in points with three with a goal and two assists.
  • Whitaker and O'Brien were the only other Vermont players with multiple points, as they each had two goals.
  • Nine other Catamounts each recorded a point.
  • Ryan Daly matched his career high in cage with 18 saves to go with five ground balls.
  • Henry Dodge and Zhao combined to go 12-26 from the faceoff spot with 10 ground balls between the two.
