COACH'S QUOTE
"Really, really proud of our effort today," said Head Coach Jim Plumer. "We had the lead three times but couldn't put it away. Kudos to BU for coming back every time. This effort from this team showed how much heart we have. We weren't afraid of being the 8 seed. We simply showed up to play our game and unfortunately, we fell just short. I want to thank or seniors and grad students. They made our program better on the ice and in our locker room and we are grateful for having them at Vermont. Our undergrads have a lot to look forward to next year."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Catamounts opened scoring 6:12 into the first period when a clean faceoff win by Rose-Marie Brochu allowed for Oona Havana to release a quick wrist shot from the top of the circle, beating Callie Shanahan glove side for her third goal of the season, earning Vermont the first lead of the game, 1-0.
  • Boston University wasted no time bouncing back, scoring just over two minutes later thanks to Maeve Kelly scoring her second goal of the season, knotting the score, 1-1.
  • Vermont responded, regaining the lead less than one minute later. Havana dumped the puck deep below the Terriers goal line where Julia Mesplède went to retrieve it, finding Brochu in the slot for a one-timer, scoring glove side on Shanahan to regain the Catamount lead, 2-1. It was Borchu's sixth goal of the season.
  • Just as time was expiring in the opening period, Boston University scored with 32 second on the clock when Lilli Welcke tipped in a shot from Walsh, scoring her fifth goal of the season, knotting the game at 2-2 as both teams went into the first intermission.
  • After a scoreless middle frame, Vermont regained the lead 3-2 on the powerplay 4:37 into the final period, seeing Lara Beecher connect with Maddy Skelton who was all alone in the slot, securing her fourth goal of the season, earning Vermont the one goal advantage.
  • The Terriers didn't back down, scoring their third equalizer goal of the matchup thanks to Sydney Healey deflecting Kelly's shot five hole, knotting the game up 3-3 with 10:01 of regulation remaining.
  • No goals were scored for the remainder of regulation as Correa tallied eight more saves throughout regulation, bringing Vermont to overtime for the second game in a row, knotted with the Terriers at 3-3.
  • Walsh netted the game-winning goal for Boston University 3:59 into the first overtime period, tallying her seventh goal of the season, advancing the Terriers onto the Hockey East semifinals.
