Catamounts’ Comeback Falls Short Against UAlbany

FINAL SCORE: UAlbany 16, Vermont 15
Albany, NY. – Vermont (3-5) took a loss in Albany, NY on Saturday afternoon, falling to UAlbany (2-6) at John Fallon Field. Lydia Doraz and Meghan O'Connor led the Catamounts with a team-high four goals apiece.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • UAlbany started the game off with a goal at the 13:38 mark in the 1st quarter.
  • Vermont was tagged with a green card 20 seconds later. The Great Danes capitalized off this card going up 2-0 a minute later.
  • A Lydia Doraz pass lead to a Meghan O'Connor goal with 10 minutes remaining in the 1st quarter. Vermont was still down 2-1.
  • Two minutes later, Lydia Doraz would even up the game at 2 apiece.
  • Lydia Doraz would score the next two goals for Vermont as she earned a hat-trick with three minutes remaining in the first quarter.
  • The Great Danes stormed back on their own 2-0 run to end the 1st quarter. The game was all tied at the end of the first quarter 4-4.
  • At the 11:52 mark in the 2nd quarter, Kendall Traveis would give the Cats a 5-4 lead with a bounce shot in the middle.
  • UAlbany marched their way back going on another 2-0 run.
  • With nine minutes remaining, Karina Sethi would tie the game at six.
  • The Great Danes proceeded to go on another 2-0 run, leading 8-6 with seven minutes remaining.
  • Karini Sethi would hit another spin doge and score here second goal of the game at the 6:30 mark. Cats were still down 8-7.
  • UAlbany ended the 2nd quarter on a 3-0 run. Catamounts went down 11-7 going into the half.
  • In the first 45 seconds of the second half, Meghan O'Connor would score her second goal of the game. Four minutes later, O'Connor would record a hat-trick as UVM still was down 9-11.
  • UAlbany would go on a 4-0 run of the game as they lead 15-9 with 5 minutes remaining until Meghan O'Connor would stop the bleed with a rebound goal.
  • Two minutes into the 4th quarter, Caitlin Haggerty would record her first goal of the game, Catamounts were still down 15-11.
  • At the 10:30 mark, Maddie Erskine scored a free position shot to give the Cats a 2-0 run.
  • One minute later, Lydia Doraz would record her fourth goal of the day as UVM only trailed 13-15.
  • After an UAlbany goal with 8 minutes remaining, the Great Danes were issued with a green card 30 seconds later. Maddie Erskine capitalized by scoring a goal from a Lydia Doraz pass. UAlbany still led 16-14.
  • Karina Sethi would record her third goal of the game with 45 seconds remaining..

  • Graduate Midfielder Meghan O'Connor and Sophomore attacker Lydia Doraz led the way with a team-high four goals apiece for the Catamounts. Lydia Doraz tallied a first quarter hat-trick against UAlbany. This is the 5th time Doraz has scored 3+ goals this season.

  • Sabine Godwin notched a team-high four ground balls. Godwin also recorded a team-high two caused turnovers.
